Summer Camp 2023
join this free professional learning opportunity!
by Jennifer Serravallo
Summer Camp 2023 started Monday July 10 and will run until Wednesday July 26, 2023. Participation is easy and flexible—all are welcome to join in the learning at any time. Here are the details:
Each day, sometime before 12pm noon EST, I'll post an invitation for discussion/reflection. Most often it'll probably be me on a Facebook Live video. Watch the video whenever you can, at any time of day in any time zone, and engage in the comments. We'll be talking about select pages in The Reading Strategies Book 2.0, and select episodes from Season 1 of the To the Classroom Podcast.
There will be 12 days of camp (skipping weekends) organized into FOUR themes, plus a final celebration day. Join for some, all, whatever! It's summer. Super flexible.
Throughout the day as we're able, my colleagues and I will be joining in the conversation in the comments. The more you participate, the more we'll be able to respond to so....please participate! Colleagues from my consulting team include elementary specialists, middle/high school specialists, special educators, former administrators, and bilingual educators who will help you think about implications from the research and strategies for your specific population of students. I can't wait for you to meet Macie, Clarisa, Darren, Cristy, Leah, and Emily!
Everything will take place in the Reading and Writing Strategies Facebook Group. There's no other place to register or join or sign up. If you're in the group, you're in!
Videos and the conversation in the comments will be archived, but if you can join during the July 10-25 time period, you’re more likely to have your comments responded to by my team and me. This is a “get out of it what you put into it” kind of experience—join in the comments for maximum benefit!
Invite your friends! All are welcome.
Be sure to listen to any episodes you've missed, or re-listen if it's been a while, make sure you have your copy of The Reading Strategies Book 2.0 (use code SAVE40 for a massive discount for "campers" on Heinemann.com if you don't already have one).
